COVID-19 Update – April 28, 2020

On behalf of Park Avenue Fertility (PAF), we hope that in the midst of these challenging times that you are safe and healthy. We thank you for the opportunity to be involved in your care.

As we monitor global and local developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), our priorities at PAF remain the health and safety of our patients and staff as well as providing to you the finest, individualized reproductive care. To comply with guidance from the CDC and local public health authorities, we are enhancing our screening policies.

As Connecticut is now experiencing a flattening in the number of new COVID-19 cases and a decrease in hospitalizations, we are writing to update you regarding the resumption of fertility testing and treatment at PAF.

Policies and procedures have been developed to optimize physical distancing and other mitigation strategies as to minimize the risk of potential exposure for patients and staff. Our goals are to maintain appropriate social distancing standards to implement strong personal protective equipment (PPE) and mitigation strategies to limit the risk of exposure for patients and staff.

In order to maintain social distancing and control traffic through the office, we are asking patients who are coming to the office to remain in their car until we are ready for their visit to start. As per usual, office visits are by appointment only. Once you arrive at the office parking lot, please call the office at 203-372-6700. A member of the staff will let you know when you may enter the building through the West Pavilion. Upon entering the West Pavilion, you will have your temperature taken and be asked relevant exposure and health questions by the nurses in the lobby. For the safety of staff and patients, only patients will be allowed in the office at this time; we ask that any family, friends or partners please remain in the car as to minimize the number of people in the office at a given time.

Also, for the time being, all new patient visits and follow-up consultations with Dr. Levi will be via telehealth (Skype).

Every attempt will be made for onsite visits to be as efficient as possible. There will be limited on-site communication. Any questions, counseling, instructions will be addressed via a telephone call, which may occur immediately following your office visit.

Patients who schedule semen analysis appointments will be asked to produce specimens at home (and drop off) rather than produce on-site at PAF. Specimen collection kits will be provided to patients in advance. This protocol will be the same for those patients producing for intrauterine insemination.

All patients undergoing care will be required to provide an active credit card on file so we can run co-pays and deductibles (and the like) so front desk and financial staff can minimize the handling of credit/debit cards, currency, and checks/money orders.

All patients will be required to wear a mask or facial covering at all times when in our office. Homemade masks are fine.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this time. Many aspects of all of our lives have been altered, including the way PAF will practice reproductive medicine. One thing, however, has not changed: our commitment to helping our patients build families. We thank you for your trust and for choosing PAF.
