Who Qualifies to be an Egg Donor?
Women between the ages of 21 and 30 are able to become donors. At Park Avenue Fertility, we encourage women of all races to apply to our donation program, as our patients are a diverse group who often seek donors who closely match their own appearances.
What Steps go into Becoming an Egg Donor?
At Park Avenue Fertility, we want to make things as easy and comfortable as possible for everyone. If you have been approved to join our pool of donors, the process will take 2-3 months once you have been selected by a patient. And, you will be supported by our staff every step of the way.
Step 1: Complete the Online Form
The first step to becoming an egg donor is submitting our egg donor application to us.
This application gives us essential background information about you, such as your pregnancy and family history, to help us complete an initial evaluation of whether or not you may be a good fit.
You will also be asked to give us some information as to why you wish to become a donor and what resources have helped lead you to make this decision. These answer provide us some additional insight into your mindset as a potential egg donor.
Step 2: Complete the Screening
Once we receive your application, our doctor and professional staff will evaluate your responses and determine if you could be a good candidate for our egg donation program. If you are selected, someone from our office will contact you to schedule a visit to our office. We will schedule an interview and a blood test which will check your ovarian reserve.
If the above steps are successful, you will undergo drug and nicotine screenings, health checks, and other requirements that are mandated by the FDA to ensure that the donation process is safe for everyone.
Step 3: Follow the At-Home Protocol
If all the previous steps are successfully completed and you are selected by a patient to be her donor, you will begin the protocol for egg retrieval. This includes taking medications and undergoing monitoring of the egg development by ultrasound and blood work. This process takes about one to two months to complete.
Step 4: Come in for Egg Retrieval
The final step in the egg donation process is to have your eggs retrieved. Our staff will explain the procedure, education you about the retrieval process, and assure you are comfortable throughout the entire process.
