Handling the Two-Week Wait

How to reduce stress when handling the two-week wait for a pregnancy test

Our Connecticut fertility clinic can help you with handling the two-week wait between your IUI or embryo transfer and your pregnancy test. These two weeks can be a stressful time, as seeing a positive pregnancy test means so much to you. Thankfully, there are a variety of ways to replace the stress with calm and hope.

Tips for handling the two-week wait

Many patients find handling the two-week wait for a pregnancy test difficult. However, there are many ways you can stay calm during this time.

Resist taking at-home pregnancy tests. While it’s tempting to take an at-home test, it’s common to get a false negative result when you test too early. This false negative can cause unneeded grief, which is why it’s best to wait to take a test at our Connecticut fertility clinic.

Avoid looking for potential pregnancy symptoms. You’re unlikely to have pregnancy symptoms until after you have a positive pregnancy test. As such, try to resist the urge to look too hard for symptoms during the two-week wait.

Distract yourself. A great way to get your mind off whether you’re pregnant is to immerse yourself in fun activities. You can do this by filling those two weeks with things like massages, movie marathons, your favorite hobbies and other activities you enjoy.

While handling the two-week wait, remember that it won’t last forever. You will eventually reach that exciting day when you come to our clinic to take this important test.
