Getting the Right Fertility Diagnosis

An accurate fertility diagnosis is the first step toward targeted treatment

When struggling with infertility, you don’t just want the right fertility diagnosis – you want it right now. Park Avenue Fertility and Reproductive Medicine understands and makes you the priority. Dr. Andrew Levi, our Connecticut fertility expert, puts patients first. He is adept at accurately diagnosing infertility to preserve your peace of mind and save you money on unnecessary treatments.

Patients often don’t know what’s causing infertility; they just know they are not getting pregnant. This is equal parts heartbreaking and frustrating. The first step is an initial consult with Dr. Levi, our Connecticut fertility expert who is double board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He can handle difficult cases and diagnose the complexities of female, male and joint causes of infertility.

Compassionate approaches to diagnosing infertility

An initial consultation with Dr. Levi is truly unique. He prioritizes treating the whole person, not just a patient. So, your initial appointment does not involve fertility testing, but instead is devoted to understanding your health history and your future dreams. As our Connecticut fertility expert, Dr. Levi delivers state-of-the-art care customized to each patient.

After your consultation, Dr. Levi will conduct thorough fertility testing to arrive at the right fertility diagnosis. This may involve a number of different tests.

  • Blood work will measure hormone levels. Results can provide insight into ovarian reserve, or the number of eggs in your ovaries. During your menstrual cycle, Dr. Levi, our Connecticut fertility expert, will commonly check for levels of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), estradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), prolactin and progesterone. If hormones are out of balance, the egg production and maturation cycle can be disrupted.
  • State-of-the-art imaging technology can reveal if the fallopian tubes are blocked and/or any structural issues in the uterus or cervix exist. A transvaginal ultrasound shows the size and shape of your uterus and the condition of your ovaries. This can identify issues such as fibroids, polyps and endometriosis.
  • A semen analysis can aid in diagnosing infertility in men. This testing can provide information about sperm count, movement and shape. Male infertility issues contribute to about 50% of all cases of infertility, so this testing can be key to getting the right fertility diagnosis.

Realizing your dreams may depend on getting the right fertility diagnosis

Don’t despair if you receive a diagnosis of infertility. Actually, the right fertility diagnosis is the first step to put you on a pathway to realize your family-building dreams.

Our Connecticut fertility expert, Dr. Levi, is experienced in tailoring customized treatment plans. These plans are unique to each patient and may consist of lifestyle changes or fertility medications. Treatment options might include IUI (intrauterine insemination) or more advanced options, such as IVF. For some, taking advantage of our donor services is a preferred pathway to pregnancy.
